Want to know something I absolutely love? Downtown Tampa weddings! When Julia and Matt reached out to me to photograph their Tampa River Center Wedding, I couldn’t have been more thrilled. I knew that I was going to capture a beautiful couple in one of my most favorite places. Our day begun at the Epicurean Hotel in Tampa where the bride got ready with her mother and bridesmaids. It was a spacious room where everyone was able to get ready before the first look. The bride even had her future nieces join her to get ready.

 

The Bride & Groom’s First Look

Let me just start off by saying that I am a huge fan of first looks. I’ve heard couples say that they feel so much pressure being lifted off their shoulders after the first look and that it helps them enjoy the rest of their day. Nonetheless, it also allows for an intimate moment between the Bride and Groom and to knock out the rest of the formal photos. All in all, it is a win-win for me.

The bride and groom’s first look took place in their church garden. I had Julia hide inside the church while Matt waited in the garden. Once he was facing away, we signaled Julia to come out and reveal her bridal look – his reaction was the sweetest. With loving arms he embraced her with a tight hug and kiss.

The Bridal Party

The best thing about having an early first look is that we can then take all the bridal party photos before the ceremony. Although this might seem “untraditional” it allows for the fun to begin right after the ceremony. Basically, you get to enjoy cocktail hour as well – you’re welcome.

The Ceremony

Julia & Matt’s ceremony took place in the same church Matt grew up in. It was also the church where his parent’s got married. To call it special is an understatement.

The Tampa River Center

This beautiful and spacious venue overlooks the city lights of Tampa. It was a great location for the reception that allowed for lots of fun and dancing.
