On February 19th, 2019 Michael spent the day with his lovely girlfriend, Alexis, at Fort DeSoto beach. Little did Alexis know that Michael had a special day planned that would include a proposal.
Michael spent months planning for this day. We went back and forth going over details on how to make this special for Alexis. Together we decided that it would be done at Fort DeSoto, on a weekday, during Sunset.
The day of the proposal was perfect. After having many cloudy days, we were blessed with a beautiful clear day. Just as the sun was beginning to set, Michael and Alexis looked at the water. Suddenly, Michael got on one knee and asked Alexis to marry him – it was perfect. Happy tears filled their eyes as she said “yes” and he put the ring on her finger. Yayyyy!!! <3
Guys, if you’re thinking on proposing, follow this checklist!
- Pic or it didn’t happen: Hire a photographer! A photographer will give you the best advice on where, when, and how to propose. Plus, you’ll have beautiful images to show to your friends and family.
- Include buffer time: If you are planning a sunset proposal, make sure that you plan to arrive at your destination 30-45 minutes before your actual proposal time. Things happen and it’s better to be safe then sorry. Trust me on this.
- Sunrise or Sunset: Sunrise and Sunset offers the best light especially if you’re planning on proposing outside. Any other time can cause harsh shadows and that’s not cute. Plan accordingly😉
- Be in the moment: Yes, there’s a photographer and perhaps people around BUT this is about you and your fiancé- no one else matters. Don’t feel pressured to pose for pictures, just let your self be in the moment.
Hope these tips help you!
Best,
Joanna
